C. K. Kim, M.D.

Chung Kiel Kim, M.D., is a specialist in orthopedic surgery and acupuncture. He has been in the northwest Indiana area since 1981.

Dr. Kim is a native of Seoul, Korea, where his education and practice was extensive, including a Ph.D. degree at the National University. Dr. Kim had his internship and residency at the National Medical Center in Seoul. He was also a consultant to the Surgeon General/Chief of Orthopedic Surgery in the South Korean Army Hospital.

After coming to the United States he became a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Kim's medical education and experience in the United States was extensive involving several hospitals in the state of New York, which included being an attending physician in the Orthopedic/Sports Medicine Department at the US Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island.

Dr. Kim developed an interest in alternative medicine for pain management and went to UCLA and took extensive courses in this oriental art. According to Chinese philosophy, all illnesses and pain of the body, are caused by energetic disharmony, a deficiency or an excess of Yin and Yang. Acupuncutre can help re-establish these disorders and relieve the pain often more effectively than drugs. Applications and indications are virtually unlimited, in physical and mental disease. Many times, acupuncture can produce quite rapid and dramatic results with reduced pain and a better snese of well being.

Dr. Kim, recently lectured on the art of acupuncture and how it can be used in conjunction with western medicine in Seoul.
