Our Mission
We empower and encourage our patients to be part of the multidisciplinary pain care process.
understand and serve their needs better. We have assembled high-quality healthcare professionals who believe in the team approach. Treatment at the Boston PainCare Center is based on a multidisciplinary system; therefore, the staff physicians are trained and board-certified in pain management, anesthesiology, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychology, and behavior modification. They listen and understand the individual concerns of every patient they treat, and they work with each patient to develop a pain treatment and management plan that addresses these concerns. How do I talk to my doctor about pain? Telling your doctor about your pain will help him or her find the best treatment. Tell your doctor where, how bad and how often your pain occurs. Also talk about what makes the pain better or worse. Your doctor may also review other health problems (such as arthritis, breathing problems and heart conditions) you may have, as these may keep you from doing some types of therapy. Your doctor may also ask if you have had any problems with sleep, mood or anxiety. My first choice for pain care is where I'm treated with hope, caring and respect. Although chronic pain is rarely eliminated, treatment should reduce daily pain levels, as well as the frequency, severity, and duration of the pain flares. In general, pain levels do not significantly improve until the patient has begun reconditioning and has increased his or her level of daily activities. Our multidisciplinary approach utilizes education, medication, physical and behavioral therapy. You, your family and friends need to understand what is causing your chronic pain, the reason for the types of treatments and the expected goals of treatment. Patient Satisfaction. You are already suffering with chronic pain on a daily basis. The last thing you need is frustration with your care providers about scheduling, communication, or just plain courtesy. From the moment you step into our office or hear our voice over the telephone, we want you to have a pleasant and welcoming experience. We constantly strive to build a positive experience for every patient at every opportunity. Patient Understanding We know that patient education is an important responsibility for any disease, but is especially important with pain management. A lack of readily available, general information about chronic pain conditions results in misconceptions and misunderstanding. Through our program we have found that education is a powerful means of support that provides a blueprint for achieving improvement of symptoms and quality of life. Publications are distributed to you dealing with wellness, coping, and pain management to be read by the patient and shared with family members. Patient Progress How do we know that you are getting better? Our comprehensive clinical outcomes measurement reports show your progress. You are assessed and treated according to clinically-required protocols. Hard numbers show your pain levels and functionality improvements. These results will help you to better understand your condition, assessment, treatments and progress.
